Who can take part in the contest?
Any person or company from a European country (widely considered, as in the Eurovision song contest) having developed a web 2.0/social media site, either as a startup company or just as a personal project. Anonymous projects will not be accepted, nor projects without a valid URL. Individuals and companies can submit as many projects as they wish.
What do you consider a web 2.0/social media site?
In order to be admitted to the contest, a web must have 50% or more of its traffic coming out of at least two of the following elements/tools:
- A blog: a user-generated website where entries are made in journal style and displayed in a reverse chronological order by one or more authors.
- A wiki: a website that allows visitors to add, remove, edit and change content, typically without the need for registration.
- Services using tags: a (relevant) keyword or term associated with or assigned to a piece of information (like picture, article, or video clip), thus describing the item and enabling keyword-based classification of information it is applied to.
- Mashup based on Google / Yahoo / Live.com maps: a website or application that combines content from more than one source into an integrated experience.
- Pages developed with Ajax: a web development technique for creating interactive web applications.
- Feeds: a data format used for serving users frequently updated content. As for example, RSS or Atom.
- Sites where users can establish relationships among them and invite other users. This is commonly known as social networks.
This will be reviewed by the advisory board, which has the right to exclude any project without further explanation.
