Who can take part in the contest?
Any person or company from a European country (widely considered, as in the Eurovision song contest) having developed a social network, either as a startup company (not older than 2007) or just as a personal project. Anonymous projects will not be accepted, nor projects without a valid URL. Individuals and companies can submit as many projects as they wish.
What do you consider a social network?
In order to be admitted to the contest, a web must have a social structure made of users (individuals or organizations) which are tied (connected) by one or more specific types of interdependency, such as friendship, leisure activities, financial exchange, dislike, knowledge or prestige (Wikipedia's definition).
This will be reviewed by the jury, which has the right to exclude any project without further explanation.
How do I submit my site?
Just click here and fill in the form.
How do you select the best web 2.0 projects?
All submitted projects are reviewed by the advisory board and later voted on Facebook by all users in the Startup 2.0 group until May 7th. Only Facebook users having installed the Startup 2.0 widget will be able to vote.
The 2 most voted projects on Facebook and the 3 projects initially selected by the advisory board will be exposed in an event which will be celebrated in Bilbao on April, May 14th. The organization will cover all travel costs for the finalists.
There will be one winner which will be voted by investors and specialists assisting to the event.
How does the jury work?
The jury is formed by 10 VCs and social media experts from Spain, France, UK, Germany, Italy, Israel, Belgium, Greece and Slovenia. Their decisions are taken by majority of votes and based on:
- Business sense and growth expectations
- Innovation
- Degree of competition in their market
- Quality of the presentation and, in its case, the video sent to the contest
- Team
If a jury member is not able to assist to the events, a member of the advisory board will take his place and follow his instructions.
I don't know how to present my project. Will you help me?
Of course. If you need any assistance to present your project to the audience, we will give you all instructions and even some lessons the day before.
What can I win?
We will cover all travel (and hotel) expenses for the 5 finalists.
If I am selected for the final, how much time will I have to introduce my project's draft?
You will have 5 minutes. Like the rest of the finalists..
Can I attend the event as a guest?
